Maduro worked with Marco van Basten when the national team coach was still a youth trainer at Ajax. He made his debut for ‘Oranje’ after having played just three league matches for the first team.
Maduro is a defensive-minded midfielder who can also play as a central defender. Despite his youth and relative inexperience, he is important for the balance of the team.
Captained the U-20 team at the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship in the Netherlands, where he scored twice.

A rising star, Maduro played seven times for the Dutch in their 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign, where he was regularly used as a substitute.
He appeared at the 2002 UEFA European U-17 Championships and went on to captain Holland at the FIFA World Championships, where the Dutch reached the last eight, with Maduro scoring twice.
Maduro was voted the biggest emerging talent at Ajax in the 2003/04 season and is a skilful playmaker who has the ability to make his mark in Germany.
